Yep, it’s a big day Ashleigh.

There’s no two ways about that.

How did handle your big day today?

Well, we can probably sum it up with two of your tester’s quotes from this morning:

** You had just finished your reverse parallel park **

Tester (after opening back door to check positioning and distance from the curb): “Perfect!”

** You had us safely parked back back at Vic Roads after a ridiculously smooth and superbly controlled drive **

Tester: “That was just terrific. You have passed!”

It’s not often an applicant receives a mid test compliment let alone is told they have passed without the score needing to be added up, Ashleigh!!

In particular, the following two things were flawless:

✅ Gap selection

✅ Positioning

Just brilliant!!!

Congratulations, legend!!!

👏👏👏👏👏👏

What an absolute pleasure it was meeting and helping such a well-natured young adult.

Thank you so much for the opportunity, Ashleigh.

Stay safe on your travels.

Thanks for driving with Dazza!

*** Pretest lesson ***

Me: “Could you please do a reverse parallel park on that grey car ahead, Kaitlin?”

Kaitlin: “No.”

Righteo then, Kaitlin! 😂

It turned out you thought I had said something else but it sure did make us laugh.

Me: “That was hilarious. If your tester asks you to perform a reverse parallel park, I’ll give you $50 if you say no.”

Kaitlin: 🤔😁

*** Stage 1 of the drive test ***

Tester: “Anywhere safe could you please perform a three point turn.”

Kaitlin: *Nails it like a boss*

Also Kaitlin: “If you had asked me to perform a reverse parallel park I would have said no. Dazza would have paid me $50.”

You actually would have said no!

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I’m very glad you were asked to do a three point turn and not a reverse parallel park, Kaitlin!!!

It was so obvious you had to put the work into your Drive test preparation practice list - your drive this morning was nothing short of excellent 👌

My two favourites from your efforts at Pakenham East Vic Roads:

✅ Your excellent mirror sequences

✅ Your perfectly structured and seamless lane changes

Congratulations!!! You did it, and you did it so easily.

👏👏👏👏👏👏

I should mention that not long after you and I parted ways your tester actually approached me to tell me how impressed she was with your drive 😎

And by the way, I think you are the only student I’ve ever had who’s been for a swim in my pool without me knowing 😂

Meeting and helping you was a lot of fun and so rewarding.

Stay safe, Kaitlin.

Thanks for driving with Dazza!

Thomas my good man!

✅ You did it

✅ You did it easily

And, of course

✅ You found it to be easy

Three super impressive standouts from your 22 minutes, 54 seconds and 8.78 km’s of driving excellence at Pakenham East Vic Roads yesterday, mate:

✔️ Your brilliant reaction time and perfect decision-making at that orange traffic light 🙌

✔️ Your excellent positioning (both lateral and position stop

✔️ Your perfect use of turning lanes (you used all three exactly how they are designed to be used)

Congratulations, superstar!!!

👏👏👏👏👏👏

Just a couple more things to mention…

• Sorry I yawned during your test (I promise I wasn’t bored!), but thank you for the offer to use your jacket as a pillow after your tester suggested I have a sleep in the backseat 🤣

• I’m guessing you owe Tiago a trip through Maccas drive through?

• Your jacket does look ridiculously comfortable 😆

It was great to meet you and even better being able to help you, mate. Thank you so much for the opportunity.

Stay safe out there.

Thanks for driving with Dazza!

*** Waiting to be called up by our LTO (license testing officer) ***

Me (doing my best to value add): “Darcy, did you know you can get 20% off your rego at the moment, mate?”

Darcy: “I get mine for free.”

Oh yes, of course you get it for free Darcy, you are an apprentice tradie!

Nevertheless, we did some quick calculations and soon discovered that 20% off free is still, well, free.

Thankfully we got called up before I could suggest any more value adds to you 😆

Such a calm and well considered drive by you today, mate 🙌

✅ Seamless lane changes

✅ Excellent use of turning lanes

✅ Confident from start to finish

You did it and you did it very well.

Congratulations to you, Darcy!!!

👏👏👏👏👏👏

Make the most of your time off work, Darcy.

Not ideal that your break from work is because you are injured, but I reckon most of us (me included) would give you a pat on the back for how that injury came about.

Thanks for being such a ripper student, mate.

Meeting and helping you was an absolute pleasure.

Stay safe.

*** Tester has just finished pre test spiel ***

Tester: “Before you head out to the car do you have any questions, Jake?”

Jake: “No, I don’t.”

Me: “Actually, Jake did have one question but he was a bit embarrassed to ask.”

Jake: 😳🤔

Tester: “Yes…?”

Me: “Jake was hoping he might get a bonus point for the wicked hairdo on his Learner permit?”

Jake: 😳😂

Tester: “Sure!”

So we were off to a pretty good start, Jake 🕺

And things just kept getting better too.

✅ Terrific awareness

✅ Spot on positioning

✅ Well structured lane changes

Realized drive test difficulty level: 1/10

😎 😎 😎

Congratulations, legend - you made it look way too easy!

👏👏👏👏👏👏

You’re now one step closer to that Sparky apprenticeship, mate!

In the meantime all the best with the remainder of year 12 and achieving the ATAR you are looking for, Jake.

Stay safe out there and thank you for trusting me to help you on what I know is such a big day.

Thanks for driving with Dazza!

PS: Don’t ever throw you that Learner permit and it’s awesome hairdo away!

PPS: Another week, another ripping young bloke from Saint Jo’s 👌

*** We have just pulled up in a yellow testing bay after a superbly controlled, first class pre-test lesson ***

Me: “To help me help you, out of 10 how would you rate your pre-drive test nerves at the moment, mate?”

Max: “They’d be a solid 9.”

And that’s what I knew you were going to absolutely nail it this afternoon, Max!!!

For anybody to drive that well in their pretest lesson, despite feeling that way, well it could really only mean one thing…

That thing?

You had committed to your Drive test preparation practice list and formed very strong habits .

😎 😎 😎

Those habits held you in good stead during your Drive test as well, mate!

Way way beyond test standard from start to finish with a result easily over 90% 🙌

In particular, those lane changes of yours were super impressive - rock solid and so well structured 👌

Congratulations, legend!!!

👏👏👏👏👏👏

I have a feeling you know how to commit to anything you want to excel at, Max.

So there will probably no surprises if your ATAR starts with a 9 as well.

What a pleasure it was meeting and helping one of nature’s gentlemen.

Stay safe and all the best with the remainder of year 12.

Thanks for driving with Dazza!

✅ An excellent pretest outcome

❌ A very close call in the office

✅ A brilliant post test outcome

*** Pre test ***

We are waiting to be called up and a mate of mine, Nero, is also waiting with his student to be called up.

Nero: “What time is your test guys?”

Me: “9:30am. You?

Nero: “9:30am”

Me: “Double or nothing?”

Nero: “Yep!”

Tester: “Drive test for Nicholas!”

So good, Nick!

Last time Nero and I were with our students waiting to be called up for the same time drive test we bet a cup of coffee on who would be called up first.

We won that one too, so that’s now two coffees Nero owes me so we get one each 🕺

(if he ever pays up, I will let you know 😂)

*** In the office with our tester ***

Tester: “If you have your phone with you, please make sure it’s turned off, Nick.”

Nick: * Begins pulling phone out of pocket whilst extracting a $10 note at the same time *

Me: “Nick, save the bribes for in the car!!!”

Tester: “Yes, there are cameras in here you know!”

Nick: 😳 😂

That was a close call, Nick 🤣

*** Post test ***

You got your P’s!!!!

And you got them in a very convincing manner too, mate.

Your drive this morning was easily in the top 10% of drive test I’ve been involved with.

So many standouts, but here are my two favourites:

✔️ Your excellent positioning (both lateral and position stop)

✔️ Your super smooth car control

Congratulations and keep doing exactly what you are doing!!!

👏👏👏👏👏👏

Stay safe out there and all the best to a terrific young bloke.

No problems at all for you at Pakenham East Vic Roads this morning, Zarah!

Yes, your nerves were up there at a solid 8/10 (like most of you guys on such a big day), but you had practiced with purpose which enabled you to form habits, which in turn held you in very good stead throughout your entire drive test.

✅ Perfectly safe

✅ Perfectly legal

✅ Excellent awareness

✅ Perfect gap selection

✅ Excellent positioning

And the list goes on…

Actually, two more things of that’s ok?

✔️ The lane change you performed in front of that bus was super impressive

✔️ You did all of the above whilst navigating, what I believe to be, Pakenham East Vic Roads’ most difficult test route.

And of course, as is always the case with you guys, you found your drive test to be so much easier than expected 😎

Congratulations to you!!!

👏👏👏👏👏👏

You are a genuinely lovely young lady, and I’m very grateful for the opportunity, Zarah.

Thanks to your dad too.

Stay safe.

Thanks for driving with Dazza!

Very sneaky, Alex!

I didn’t notice your Collingwood shorts until AFTER you had paid me…

Oh well, a deal is a deal so we kept to our original plan 😆

✅ Pre test lesson: Aced it - no problem 🙌

✅ Drive test: Just the same 🙌

Two big standouts from your 22 minutes, 34 seconds and 8.89 km drive today, mate:

✔️ Your car control (smooth and predictable)

✔️ Your gap selection (confident and concise)

Congratulations, legend!

👏👏👏👏👏👏

Meeting and helping a well natured young adult such as yourself is exactly why I look forward to going to work each day.

Stay safe.
