Xr6 turbo timing case reseal . 350000km seals never changed they’d turned to plastic. Found the timing chain tension guide broken on the end . Removed the water pump to get the tension guide off . New oil and filter due to oil contamination.

It’s a runner

Mission was to get her running.
I got this Vl towed home as it wasn’t going to be straight forward.
The owner is a dear friend of mine and a fellow car enthusiast!
He swapped out a v8 that was from a vs commodore that had been put in very poorly he wanted the car back to it’s original 6 cylinder glory. With future plans to turbo it but for now just to get it running with a 6 cylinder.
He had done the hard yards by swapping the motor , transmission , vehicle crossmember to name a few things which is no easy task .
But it wouldn’t go . So that’s where I come in !
Vl wiring was setup for the v8 even the dash wires were all piggybacked so I went to work removing everything I could see that shouldn’t be there I had it powered up in not to long but then the fiddly bit of getting it to actually start and run . The motor was bought in “running” condition let’s just say it wasn’t ! leaking injectors faulty airflow meter air leaks fouling plugs ect being a lover of Vl commodores and all things old school I had a few bits laying around to help get her going.
It’s been a handful but a good experience bringing the old RB30 back to life . It still looks a mess but now it’s running my mate get to work tidying it all up .
