Addressing Current Events in the Gold Coast Suspension Community
Hey everyone,
I want to take a moment to address the growing concerns and discussions surrounding some suspension shops here on the Gold Coast. Over the years, I’ve seen and heard about practices that go against everything I stand for. I’m extremely happy to FINALLY see these businesses being exposed and called out online, and I feel it’s important to assure you of the standards we proudly maintain at our workshop.
There are shops out there that have been cutting corners for years. They hire underqualified “fitters/installers,” such as people with minimal training from tiny TAFE courses (if they even have that), instead of fully qualified mechanics. Worse still, they omit key components from lift kits to make their quotes appear cheaper and beat competitors. Customers believe they’re getting the same product and service as elsewhere, but in reality, they’re not. This kind of practice devalues the industry and puts vehicles—and potentially their owners’ safety—at risk!
Let me be clear: We despise these practices and hold ourselves to MUCH higher standards.
I run a small, local business on the Gold Coast—not a big Australia-wide dealership. I’m not in this to churn out jobs or compete on who can cut the most corners. I started this business because I love 4WDs. I live and breathe them. When you walk into my workshop, you’ll see my personal ute parked out front, still covered in dirt or sand from the previous weekend’s adventures. This is my passion.
That’s why every build we do is treated with the same care, precision, and respect that I’d give my own vehicle. We follow all Australian-recommended installation practices to the letter, even if it takes significantly more time and effort.
These are not steps we take lightly, nor are they shortcuts we’re willing to skip. Doing the job right takes time and costs more, but it’s worth it to deliver the quality and safety our customers deserve.
For years, we’ve proactively spent more money and time on each job than many of our competitors. While I’m extremely proud of the high-quality work we do, I’ll admit it’s been frustrating watching other shops undercut businesses like mine by taking shortcuts and deceiving customers. That said, I’m extremely happy to see these shady practices and businesses finally being exposed online. It’s time for the industry to be held accountable!
Suspension work is an optional upgrade, it’s something people do because they want to enhance their pride and joy, not because they have to. I will never forget that, and it’s why I approach every build with such care. I believe in the saying, “A poor man pays twice.” Cutting corners may seem cheaper in the short term, but it’ll cost more in the long run.
To those of you who’ve supported my workshop over the years, thank you. Your trust means everything to me. I’ll continue to do what I’ve always done: offer great, fair prices, 100% commitment to high-quality workmanship, and treat your vehicle like it’s my own. I’ll always take the time to do the job right and ensure every build is as safe and functional as possible.
