This is why we DON’T recommend 15-20k km service intervals.
That black sludge you’re looking at came out of an engine that’s been pushed too far between services.
Modern logbooks will tell you 15,000–20,000km intervals… but that’s under perfect conditions.
Real-world Aussie driving? Heat, short trips, stop-start, towing, dust… completely different story.
👉 What actually happens when you stretch it:
• Oil breaks down and loses lubrication
• Heat cooks it into sludge (like this 👆)
• Oil galleries start to restrict
• Turbos, chains, and bearings cop it first
• Engine wear accelerates FAST
⸻
👉 What we do at Sammies Automotive:
• Max 10,000km intervals (earlier if harsh use)
• Australian-made Penrite oils only 🇦🇺 — proven quality, not cheap bulk oil
• Proper servicing that actually protects your engine
⸻
Saving a couple hundred bucks skipping services can cost you thousands in engine repairs.
Simple rule:
👉 Oil is cheap. Engines aren’t.
