With our 14th birthday coming up there is no better time to treat ourselves to some ITB goodness for one of our long term VR6 projects .
Although engine specs will be finalised shortly it will as a base be a destroked mk5 R32 motor to comply with Speedcar rules . It will be the first VW powered car to compete in over a 1/4 of a century once it’s complied and tech inspected . The only other vehicle manufacturers engines within this category are Toyota , Honda , Hyundai and Porsche .

So we came across a unique issue with an 8L S3 turbo . The insert had stayed with the manifold unscrewing itself out of the turbo . The turbo itself never had the bracket attached allowing issues to arise with the manifold . After looking around for the insert and seeing the crazy prices that were charged I decided to have my own made for nearly a 1/4 of the price ! These will be on the website shortly and there is plenty in stock !

Another new product being tested .
2 piece 280mm rotors for the mk4/A3 8L platform .

We will be keeping these in stock with replacement rotors in the future .

We will also have 2 piece 288mm mk3/4 Golf rotors as well as 312mm 8L S3 units in stock in the future .

First titanium pipe is fitted and tested to the A3 1.8t .
Compressor surge has been reduced although the noise has barely increased .
This will be a must on any fwd mk4 platform to gain a bit of power without too much extra noise .

Why we don’t sell aluminium flanges or housings .

This question gets asked a lot and we have enough evidence on multiple cars that electrolysis occurs over a period of time which breaks down the aluminium blocking coolant galleries and in one case blocking the thermostat while in another blocking the headgasket . A lot of aluminium was found in the coolant bottle . Replacing the plastic flanges / housings is a better alternative than trying to deal with issues caused by electrolysis of the aluminium .

What does it take to get a mk4 2.0 to be as quick as a mk4 Gti (Aus spec) . A mathematical breakdown

Mk4 Gti 150hp
0-100 8.5
Weight 1212kg
P/W = 0.124

Mk4 2.0 115hp
0-100 10.5
Weight 1171kg
P/W = 0.0982

If you only could reduce weight , how much would the 2.0 need to weigh to keep up with a Gti ?

So what if you modified a 2.0 with cam+tune+exhaust and made 140hp - the p/w would be approx 0.1196 . The weight needed would only be 1129kg !

There are multiple times of what these cars run on the 1/4 , but figures range from :

Gti 16.3-16.7
2.0 17.6-17.8

*all cars weights are manual transmissions and taken from the factory logbook

These are the thicker spacers which work better than the previously supplied thinner units . Currently testing the 2.0 unit .
Price will be $120 each . Will be launching this at the end of the month at the show .

We have a one off deal for mk6 steel oil pans that suit mk7 Gti/R etc .
Oil pan , titanium bolts and titanium nuts for $200 !
To offset the extra weight of the steel pan we opted for lightweight titanium hardware instead of the factory bolts . Once this batch is sold RRP will be $250 to counter the drop in the Aussie $ .
