🔄 Time to switch hats! 🚐⚖️

After five incredible months touring and working in the Kimberley, next week we’re swapping the red dirt and tour-guide hats for the scales and getting back to Capital Vehicle Weighing!

And we’re coming home with even more real-world towing experience to share.
Over the season, we completed 8 trips along the Gibb River Road and into Purnululu (the Bungle Bungles) — towing, travelling corrugations, managing changing loads and seeing firsthand just how important a well-balanced, correctly loaded setup is when the conditions get challenging.

That experience gives us plenty of practical advice, tips and stories to share with our customers — whether you’re planning a weekend away, a big trip or your own lap of Australia.

We’re looking forward to getting back behind the scales, catching up with past customers and meeting plenty of new ones.

It’s a great reminder that travel doesn’t have to be perfect or perfectly planned. We caravan for the experiences and memories — and those don’t come from waiting for the “right time.”
If we learnt anything through COVID, it’s to go when you can. Yes, things might cost more and look a little different — but the opportunity is still there.
And right now, places across northern WA, QLD and the NT would love to see you.
Take the trip. Do it differently. The time is right when you make it right.

Sometimes the best getaways aren’t meticulously planned… they are just a rash last minute decision based on need, want and impulse.
You just need to wing it - get away from the day to day grind.

It’s just a weird time to be alive. Early April had everyone watching fuel prices climb past $3+ and wondering what will comes next.

But quietly, without much noise, fuel prices have eased; supply is more certain - panic has settled.

After a great weekend at TumbaFest seeing so many caravanners out enjoying the lifestyle, it was straight back into a full week of weighings here in Canberra.

The common theme this week?
Repeat customers preparing for their winter escapes.
New caravans.
Upgraded tow vehicles.
Accessory additions.
Lap plans starting to take shape.

What a week! 🙌

We’ve wrapped up a busy few days weighing caravans and helping customers fine-tune their towing setup — making sure they’re safe, balanced and ready for the road.

This morning’s couple summed it up beautifully. They said they caravan to “enjoy the simple life.”

And that’s exactly what it should be about.
With 25kg of food and clothes packed in the van and two adults in the vehicle, we put their full setup across the scales — and everything came in within manufacturer standards ✔️

No guesswork.
No stress.
Just confidence.

That’s what we love to see — people travelling knowing they’re legal, balanced and set up properly before they head off to make memories.

We finished the week with a great matched towing combination- Toyota Prado and Olympic tourer. With only a minor tweak of moving a couple of items the owner was pleased with the load capacity and is now ready for more trips to the south coast with a good understanding of their weight ratings and load balance.
