Mayako and YMP in action again at the 2026 WA State Champs held in Kalgoorlie at the Goldfields Radio Controlled Car Club not to long ago. it was the largest turnout for WA State Champs for a while.

Thanks to the effort of all drivers and support from Ryan James local shop Replay RC Racing

Under the guidance of mentor Darren Johnston Youth drivers Luke Thompson and Elliot Grierson both showed they are on an upward trajectory. 🔥

Luke running in his first state champs excelled in EP qualifying 8th but it was the mains where he really showed his potential and matching the pace of the front runners. Luke brought home a 4th overall which was a great result and really showed his potential. 👏

Elliot had strong qualifiers in both EP and Nitro with a couple of 98.5% consistency runs resulting in 5th place qualification in both classes. EP mains didnt quite go to plan with the only mechanical of the week coming while running a strong third in the final main - even so a 7th overall wasnt bad.
The nitro A main was a great 45 minute drive bringing home a strong 4th place finish, congrats to Elliot and Chris - lots of lessons learned for next time.🤙

Both boys were only one spot off the podium and shows that the YMP is delivering results in WA. 👊

Shout out to the rest of the drivers

Last weekend, Round 4 of the WA inter in series held at MORBC, the 2018 worlds venue. The Mayako crew were out in force led by Tim Wainwright gleaming new EP. was great with 30 EP8 entries (9 Mayako’s).
Tim’s purple flyer took out the C main which was epic for his first run out for a while. Then the YMP youngsters turned it on for the A mains where 5 out of the 10 cars were Mayako). Luke Thompson took A2, splitting Elliot Grierson’s wins in A1 and A3.
Elliot taking his second round win of the season and Luke second for the second time! YMP certainly making great progress in the West 👏

Good luck to all our Mayako YMP and mentors this weekend at lap paradise for round two of the Asian Buggy Championships 🔥

Mayako YMP in action. Great to be back racing 1/8th scale at MORBC, the worlds venue from 2018 in WA. YMP drivers Luke, Elliot and Zac. Everyone ran strongly all day in EP and Nitro showing good pace and continued progress. Mentor DJ was always on hand for set-up and driving advice. The youth drivers will be going head to head in the next round of the WA Interclub series in a couple of week - should be some close wheel to wheel racing!

Day 1 finished at the RCRA nationals.

With 2 practice sessions and the first round of qualifying for our members of the YMP, youths and mentors had tricky conditions in the in morning but the track grip up onwards

From one of your mentors Félix Koegler “While we got a muddy first run, the track grooved quicker than expected today at Canberra. My day in Buggy wasn’t the best, but the truck was fun to drive.
P9 in Q1 Buggy with some bad luck with traffic and marshalling
P5 in Truck with my Prototype. Some tweaks needed to find a bit more speed!”

With all members else chasing some more speed for the next phase of qualifying tomorrow, stay tuned.
