Southerners Football Club

02/10/2026

The Southerners Football Club would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to Shirley, Paul, Tania, Megan, Craig and all their families and friends on the sad passing of Dennis Barnsby.

“Big Den” as he was affectionately known was a much loved and respected person at the footy club and in our community.

Dennis was a Life Member, multiple premiership player and coach and was a larger than life presence around the footy club.

We were fortunate to have Dennis address our 2026 colts team before their recent grand final success. Den was also part of our recent cabaret and trophy presentations.

He was held in such high regard by our footy club and he will be greatly missed.

RIP Big Den ❤️

❤️🤍💙 ITS GRAND FINAL DAY 💙🤍❤️

Today’s the day. 10am at Imperials. Vs Kojonup.
The big dance. The time to run out with your mates and fight for the flag! The time to leave nothing in the tank. It’s not about perfection. It’s about courage. It’s about effort.
And these kids have it in spades!

Grand finals don’t come around every year or for everyone so let’s get behind Fish, Gunny and the 6/7s and cheer the red white and blue!!!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

*spot the little supporter from 5 years ago that will be running though his own banner today 😉❤️🤍💙

❤️🤍💙 2 more sleeps!!! 💙🤍❤️

In the wise words of our 6/7 coach…

“The countdown is getting real now.
The preparation is nearly done. The team has worked hard all season for this opportunity. Now it's about staying focused, backing each other and embracing the challenge ahead!”

Tonight our 6/7 team are rewarded for their consistency and hard work through the season with a formal players tea. We encourage all parents, supporters and senior players to come and join them and show them the support they deserve and get them pumped up for their big Grand Final appearance this Saturday!!💪🏼

Training is at 4:30pm with the team coming in for dinner at 6pm.

"You don’t get what you wish for. You get what you work for.” Patrick Cripps

❤️🤍💙

Chayce Stacpoole not only caught the eye of field umpires during the 2026 season with his Runner Up finish in the Best & Fairest, but kept the goal umpires busy as well.
