🔥 Barra Patrol in after blowing its second turbo!

On inspection, we found plenty of debris in the oil pickup and an undersized 8mm turbo oil return hole in the sump.

With the engine out, we completed a fresh round of upgrades and repairs:

Crow Cams Australia Pty Ltd camshafts
Atomic Performance valve springs and head studs
Haltech plug-and-play Barra Falcon ECU
Full syltech sensor package and sensor loom
James 3584 Gen 3 turbo with an Turbosmart external wastegate
High Speed Engineering billet oil pump gears and backing plate!
We also fitted a turbo ZF gearbox to this vehicle to try help keep it as reliable as possible!
A serious setup with the supporting gear to match 👌
Hopefully on the Dyno this week!

This SST came in after completely losing odd gears.

After diagnosis and teardown, we found both the 2/4 and 3/5 shift fork magnets had failed! This is an extremely uncommon failure, especially with the vehicle only presenting with loss of odd gears!
However the 3/5 magnet failure is starting to become more common!

Just another reminder that SST faults aren’t always as straightforward as the symptoms suggest. Correct diagnosis and gearbox inspection is key before throwing parts at it.

Evo X in with a failed throw out bearing which caused the slave cylinder to over extend and jam the internal cup.

We believe This then over pressurised the clutch hydraulic system and cracked the factory plastic master cylinder.

One failure causing a chain reaction of issues 👎

Another Barra through the workshop!

This one received Atomic oil pump gears, upgraded valve springs, an HD timing chain kit, ARP head studs, and Crow Cams to keep it reliable and ready for more power.

During start up it had a rattle! we found a snapped flywheel bolt, so we replaced the complete set with ARP flywheel bolts and bolt locker for added reliability.

The best find of the job? A screwdriver sitting under the rocker cover! 😅

Attention to detail matters. We don’t just replace parts, we inspect everything while we’re there.
