Today I gained a new qualification. I now hold a Heavy Rigid Truck licence. The training to achieve this qualification has given me a new perspective of driving. I hope to be able to pass this on to my trainees.

Telling someone how to do a hill start and showing them are two different lessons.
Harry got his Ps this week, and that line in his review is basically the whole method. Explain it, then run through it until it's in the hands, not just the head.
Mark's a qualified mechanic as well as an instructor, so learners get the why behind what the car's doing. Turns out that sticks.

Second one in the under the bonnet series. This time it's coolant.

Overheating is one of the most common reasons a car ends up on the side of the road, and it's usually avoidable. Mark's a qualified motor mechanic as well as a driving instructor, so he'll show you where to look and what you're actually looking for.
One rule before you start: never open the radiator cap on a hot engine. Check it cold.

Where should you take your learner to practise? 🚗

Getting 75 hours up is a slog, and most parents end up doing the same loop over and over.

Mark's written up the actual roads he uses with students around Mount Barker.
Old Princes Highway to Callington for building early confidence. Springs Road for learning to hold speed over the undulations. Flaxley Road for U-turns, about the only decent spot in town for it.
