Changing a tyre is not something we see often when it comes to driver training in Australia!

Making assumptions on our roads can lead to disaster. Not assuming and giving ourselves more time to think and process will help us make better decisions.

Better decisions lead to less negative energy and more positive outcomes.

In order to change our driving culture, we must learn from one another and be better. Collaboration and community is key. Looking out for one another and taking more responsibility when someone else isn't, is imperative to less injury and death on our roads.

I want to shape the next generation of drivers and hope that this content can do that.

VIDEO CONTEXT:

In this video, you will see my student driver approaching a white vehicle on the opposite side of the road that is about to do an illegal U-turn. The student driver kept accelerating towards the vehicle while it was in the middle of the illegal U-turn.

Because the student driver was in acceleration at the time, they had a knee-jerk reaction and applied the brake quite harshly. In this scenario, they needed to be more proactive, not reactive.

In the second scenario, they were more proactive but could have held back a bit further with more speed reduction to protect the pedestrian and waited that extra second before moving again.

This was all done safely as no one was following closely behind us, and I didn't assist as much as I could have because I wanted the student driver to learn from how they handled the scenarios.

To note, this is NOT a video focusing on what the others did wrong. That is evident! This video is about taking more responsibility and getting on with life.

Weight transfer can be a dangerous vehicle behaviour that can come into affect when we accelerate, brake and turn a vehicle.

During the Advanced Driver Course we discuss weight transfer, and showcase simulated and real-world footage to reinforce the information.

Participants then experience dangerous weight transfer in a safe environment using state-of-the-art simulators at Motorsport Simworld
