Don’t lose easy marks in your drive test.

STOP means a full stop.
Not slow down, not almost stopped.
You need to do a complete stop before the solid line, and your wheels must fully stop moving, otherwise you will lose marks.

GIVE WAY means slow down and decide.
If there’s traffic or pedestrians with priority, you stop.
If it’s clear, you go.

Over the past weeks, a group of Shortcut Driving students have successfully passed their driving test at VicRoads Carlton.
Some trained intensively, others fitted lessons around work or study.

Can learner drivers register a car in Victoria?
This question can be understood from two perspectives: 1. vehicle registration with VicRoads, and 2. purchasing a vehicle.
In Victoria, whether a vehicle can be registered under your name depends primarily on your age and the type of vehicle, not on whether you hold a learner permit.

1. Vehicle registration and age rules in Victoria:
Aged 16 years old - You can register a light vehicle in your own name, such as a standard passenger car or a trailer.
Aged 18 and over - You can register a motorcycle or a heavy vehicle in your own name, and you can also purchase a vehicle directly from a licensed dealer.

2. Purchasing a vehicle
If you are under 18 years old, You cannot purchase a vehicle from a dealer. However, you can purchase a vehicle through a private sale. In practice, this usually requires assistance from an adult to complete the ownership transfer and related paperwork.

⚠️Important reminder
Even if a vehicle is registered in your own name, learner permit holders are not allowed to drive alone.
You must continue to follow all learner-permit rules, including driving only with a fully licensed supervising driver.

In Victoria’s road test, parking requirements are not complicated—as long as you park the car safely and accurately, you’ll pass the test. Whether it‘s reverse parking or pull-over parking, you can always use reverse cameras or front camera.

😆In this case, choosing a testing vehicle equipped with clear and complete car cameras will be very helpful for your test.
