Break down time. Lots of smoke coming from under the bonnet on the car. Upon inspection finding the radiator empty. And a large leak from a hard pipe. Little bit of patching to get the vehicle back on the road. But unfortunately end result has been over heating and casuing damage and a leaking head gasket.

Birthday for this hilux. Inspection for a suspected blown turbo, turbo seals and actuator had failed. Big job with most bolts rusted, rounded and seized. A lot of heat, cutting and tapping to rectify.

At the same time finding due for a timing belt, water pump and drivebelt replaced at the same time.

At closer inspection finding the rocker cover had been cracked, replaced with an upgraded alloy version, and the radiator leaking. Everything replaced and tested, running how it should be.

Getting this VE commodore back up and running after a bit of trouble shooting.

First presented as coils misfiring intermittently, after a bit of testing. Ended up suspecting the injector on cylinder 2 leaking, causing the spark plug to flood after a couple days and causing a miss fire.

Gq patrol with faulty speedo. Its a nice feeling testing and proving the first go to option for most isn't the actual issue and saving money.

Couple troublesome jobs today.

BMW headlight issue, looking like a module, with a little more digging, found headlight assembly internal wiring deteriorating.

Land rover with a destroyed window regulator.

V8 converted patrol, with no speedo. Unfortunately it wasn't a simple speed sensor, sensor tested all OK, wiring all OK. Pointing to the common dry solder points kn the cluster.

And the most satisfying but headache job, camper trailer with poor wiring and messy. Lost all power from the batteries. Needed a full tidy up. New switch, relay and circuit breakers. Wiring replaced along with all new connections. Up and going again. (Unfortunately forgot to get a finished photo, next time)

Heads up if you are local to the Northern Rivers!

I was looking for a good mechanic, and Zac came highly recommended-so I gave him a go!

To say I was impressed is an understatement!

He was punctual, respectful and did some really neat work!

Zac is honest and didn't pressure me into 'fixing' things that could wait- instead he has worked with me to get a plan together for some future non essential work.

He was easy to talk to, and because he is a mobile mechanic, I didn't have to cart my kids around for the day filling in time to get a car service done!

If you are looking for a good mechanic, give him a go- you wont regret it! 😊

While servicing this vw, found a coolant leak at the waterpump/thermostat. We replaced the waterpump/thermostat housing, along with the cheeky internal drivebelt. Vacuum bleed the cooling system, road tested the vehicle to operating temp to make sure everything is running smoothly. And to finish off carried out a pressure test to confirm everything is happy with no more leaks from the cooling system.
