Garage Sale Trail is about re-using great stuff, reducing waste to landfill, meeting your neighbours, stimulating local economics, and providing an awesome platform for fundraising. All with the support of our local Shire. Last year, the Garage Sale Trail was very successful and we would like to give you the opportunity to get involved in an event that is about sustaining our local community. The
Garage Sale Trail is for all people, from all walks of like. Perhaps you'd like to de-clutter your life, buy someone else's treasures, help keep stuff out of landfill, fundraise for a cause, connect with your community, make some pocket money, teach kids about commerce and sustainability... Whoever you are, wherever you are, Garage Sale Trail is for YOU! Participants include:
-Residents and households
-Community Groups
-Schools
-Charities and not for profit organisations
-Libraries
-Local Businesses
-Religious or cultural institutions. Whatever your reason, this is a ready made opportunity to raise some dough - sell old stuff, sell new stuff, sell anything!... and its FREE to participate. Give your sale a name and upload photos of items that you would like to sell. That puts your sale on Facebook for all to see. You can host a sale yourself or with friends or neighbours. For maximum impact, get your whole street involved and plan an even bigger, more profitable day. Together we make the day possible in several ways:
- Facebook- We create the page for sellers to register their sale and buyers to see what's on offer around the local area. The page is where we keep everyone up to date by creating a count down to the sale day. a treasure map of your town with all the locations of a garage sale so you don't miss out on anyone's goodies on offer. I WANT TO HAVE MY GARAGE SALE ON ANOTHER DAY, IS THAT POSSIBLE? No, Not if you want to be part of the Garage Sale Trail 2016! The idea is to build momentum and participation on the one day across this fine nation. This year, its Saturday 22 October 2016. Simultaneous garage sales on the one day mean that people can build treasure trails, meet lots of buyers and sellers and create buzz around their event. WHAT TIME SHOULD I HOLD MY GARAGE SALE? The national event takes place on Saturday 22 October 2016 however each seller can set the time their sale starts and finishes. We suggest that sellers open their sale at 9am, as experience has proven this to be the most beneficial time to sell goods. WHAT YOU DO?
-Register your sale
get on the computer or on the phone and register your sale. Then you can start listing your items and uploading photos of the really special stuff. Want to organise a sale with more than one seller? Whether you have too much space, too little space or just want to get together with others. A group sale is a great way to get involved. Once you have identified a venue for your group simply phone or email the Lake Grace Visitor Centre or private message here. Include all the details of venue, time and the number of sales involved. Once this is done individuals will be able to list their sale items and promote their sales.

We will promote here and locally as much as we can, but the really successful sellers get their hands dirty too.
1. Tell friends, family and anyone in your area about your sale.
2. You can put up posters around the neighbourhood.
3. Post and update information about your sale on our page.
4. Advertise in the local Lakes Link.
-On the Day
Make your sale impossible to walk past with a few easy tips.
1. display all your great stuff together.
2. Think about bargain bins and create irresistible deals.
3. Think what else you can do to attract attention. The only limit is you imagination.
4. Most importantly have fun!
