Summernats 39 is already on the horizon… 👀

With tickets for next January already on sale, we thought it was time to share a little of what goes on behind the scenes at Summernats.

Getting the cars there is one thing - getting everything ready, packed, loaded, travelled and set up is another!

There’s plenty of hard work, plenty of late nights and, thankfully, plenty of laughs along the way.

Here’s a look behind the scenes of our Summernats 38 adventure. 🔥

Who’s joining us in Canberra next January?

When your work is your best advertisement.

We wanted a sign we could take to car shows that did more than just display our logo, so we turned an old bonnet into a showcase of our craftsmanship.

One side shows where it starts. The other shows where we can take it.

From race day mishap to race-ready again. 🏁🔧

This Westfield Clubman belongs to a weekend racer who came to us after a bingle during a race. He’d had a go at the repairs himself, but things just weren’t lining up properly.

Once we pulled it apart, we found the problem ran deeper — several of the mounts weren’t properly secured.

We locked everything down, re-fibreglassed, repainted and tidied it all up, getting this little racer back where it belongs.

And judging by the smile when he picked it up… he was pretty happy with the result! 👌

Award-winning craftsmanship. 🏆

Our ’69 Chevrolet Corvette C3 was recently awarded *Best Example of a Restoration with Mild Upgrades – 1968–1973 Class* at the Corvette Classic 2026, hosted by the Corvettes Down Under Car Club.

This was a full factory-style restoration with some carefully considered upgrades, including full fibreglass resurfacing, a fully rebuilt small block, rebuilt 4-speed manual gearbox, IDIDIT suspension and an American Autowire wiring loom.

The result? A beautiful C3 that stays true to its roots while benefiting from some modern improvements.

And we’re proud to be an Australian supplier of American Autowire products too.

You know you’re having a good day when your workshop is the one making all the noise!

Nothing like hearing one of the builds come to life.

Just another day at Ol School Garage. 😎

Six months on, and we’re still pretty proud of this one. 🔥

Our ’49 Chevy Pickup was a full custom build created to the owner’s vision and commissioned specifically for the Summernats Elite Top 60.

Elite builds are a different level. The judging process begins long before the car reaches the event, with judges visiting the workshop throughout the build to assess the quality, detail and level of customisation.

This truck had to earn its place.

And in January, it did just that.

Custom built. Meticulously crafted. Elite worthy.

What you see at Summernats is the finished car.

What you don't see is everything it takes to get it there.

This ’57 Chevy had been through a huge amount of work before it ever made the trip to Canberra.

The final details. The finishing touches. The things that might seem small, but make a massive difference when you're putting a car on display at an event like Summernats.

Then comes the moment you've been working towards — loading it up, making the trip and finally seeing it sitting amongst some of Australia's best builds.

The journey was back in January, and six months later, it’s still a great reminder:

*Getting a car to an event is the easy part. Getting it ready is where the real work happens.*

Craftsmanship is in the details.

This is a great example of the work that goes into getting a restoration right.

The original steering wheel on this '58 Corvette didn’t meet Australian Design Rule requirements, so rather than simply replacing it, we remodelled and rebuilt a new wheel that suits the vehicle while meeting the required standards.

It’s this kind of problem-solving, attention to detail and specialised craftsmanship that goes into every build at Ol School Garage.

Do it properly. Do it once.

A few snaps from GreazeFest over the weekend 📸

We took along our ’58 Chevy Corvette C1 and ’79 International Scout II and spent the day checking out loads of incredible custom builds, soaking up some inspiration and enjoying the great atmosphere.

Always good to get out of the workshop, catch up with people and see what everyone else has been creating. 👌
