One of the great things about riding a bike is we see many things you don’t see in a car. I urge every cyclist to check deceased wombats for Joeys still in the pouch. Not a hard thing to do. Today’s ride was cut short as this little guy was stuck in his mother’s pouch as she stomach down on the road.

The other is an orphan I noticed when riding a few weeks ago. We later caught her and she in now in care. She had an injured foot and would not have survived.

Gravel Wide has arrived. These rims are a 42mm external width, 32mm internal. 50/45 depth wave profile. I will be testing these as a wide road option initially and conducting roll tests against 30/32 mm road set ups and reviewing results.

Not all wheel builds are the same. These graphs represent how uniform spoke tensions are at each spoke on either the drive side or non drive side of the wheel.

You should see circles or close to it.

Wheelset 1. Never built to correct tension or close to correct tension. Non uniform and some spokes wouldn't even register on the tension meter. Built by a shop in Sydney.

Wheelset 2. Brand new 2k wheelset from a big brand.

Wheelset 3. A wheelset I built in 2019. Has been used on road bike, gravel bike and a mtb.

Note : spoke tensions are rounded up or down to closest 5kgf.
