Heads up!

As we dive back into boating season, there's some fresh maritime news you might've let drift by: From June 11, 2023, the Marine Safety regulations now include:

🛥️ By July 2028, only lifejackets that meet Australian standards can be worn

🛥️ 27MHz radios no longer meet the definition of marine radios

🛥️ Make sure your navigation lights are correctly installed, even when boating during daylight hours. Infringements now exist for incorrectly installed navigational lights.

🛥️ Alternatives to marine flares for boating on enclosed waters

🛥️ One or five-year marine licence options

🛥️ No passengers allowed on board when refuelling and restarting (unless an exception applies)

🛥️ Any child less than 12 years is required to wear the appropriate type of lifejacket when in an open area of a vessel that is underway

🛥️ A sole adult with children
