Grudge kings done for another year, always a great event π
Unfortunately we struggled with the car setup all day, still trying to adjust and get the new setup working properly. At the moment it's a combination of things. On the launch the rear end is rebounding a bit too much causing too much weight transfer off the back of the car, this is causing the tyres to unload and break traction. The other issue is the new turbo is much more efficient than the old one and coming on to boost quite aggressively, we did play with the tune a bit yesterday and were seeing some improvements with the last two passes, getting much closer to being back in the nines.
Moving forward we were part way through modifying the rear end to be able to run a 15-in pro radial tyre as opposed to the current 17-in setup, just didn't get it quite finished in time for this weekend. This has involved replacing the brakes in the rear end to be able to fit the smaller diameter rims. This will be finished in the coming weeks and then we will see how the car responds and look into potentially changing and upgrading the rear suspension to hold the launch better. A bit more tweaking to the tune and I think we will be right back into the nines. Once the car does grip up properly it does feel very fast which is promising once we get the launch sorted.
But still a great weekend. Good to get a bit of seat time and some data, great to catch up with my racing friends. As always, thanks to Justin from BlackTrack Performance for your help throughout the day mate.
Not sure when we will be back on the track at the moment. Once we get the rear end sorted we'll try to get down for some testing and then target a couple of big events in the new year π
