What a weekend at the Australian Kart Masters.
Four days of tough, competitive racing, plenty of action, and more than a few incidents kept everyone busy from start to finish. The results only tell part of the story, with every driver putting in a huge effort supported by Troy & Seth all weekend.
Scott Hargans took on the challenge of racing two classes across four intense days. Working closely with Seth, they worked tirelessly through a bent kart and multiple race incidents that caused damage throughout the weekend. Their persistence paid off with a well-earned 3rd place podium finish in the highly competitive Tag Restricted Medium 50-59 class. Scott also showed incredible determination in the feature event KA3, recovering from mid-pack chaos causing a spin to charge back through the field in the final with a strong finish in one of the most contested classes of the meeting.
Sean Glashoff endured one of the tougher weekends, having a kart run over him which forced him to sit out Race 3. Despite carrying injuries, he jumped back into the kart and battled on for the remainder of the event, racing hard in some fiercely competitive mid-pack battles.
James Farmer showed great pace qualifying and racing at the top of the pack all weekend. While race incidents interrupted several promising runs, he spent plenty of time making passes and fighting his way back through the field, eventually finishing a strong 6th.
Bruce Goodwin showed impressive speed from the outset, qualifying 4th in Legends. Unfortunately, race contact and kart damage made life difficult, but he drove brilliantly through adversity to finish 8th in a very competitive field.
A big welcome back to Brenden Gough from GoughMotorsport who joined the KartShop crew for the weekend. Combining his driving talent with the KartShop team's local knowledge proved a winning formula, with Brenden dominating Tag Restricted Heavy. Pole position, race wins across the board, and a convincing victory to stand on the top step of the podium.
Brad Fanning put together a fantastic performance to finish 2nd in 4SS Light with some excellent driving throughout the meeting.
Scott Dederer in 4SS medium and Craig Clarke in tag restricted medium were locked in battles all weekend in their races. Craig overcame an early engine issue, while Scott spent the entire weekend chasing every possible improvement, working tirelessly on the kart between sessions to find those extra tenths.
Most importantly, it was a special weekend as we honoured our dad, Ian Brown, in the 31st year of this incredible event.
Thanks to everyone who raced, crewed, supported and helped throughout the weekend. Plenty was learned, plenty was achieved, and we're already looking forward to coming back bigger and better next year.
