I rode this royal enfield himalayan (the black one) around Mauritius for a few days and whilst using it I felt very disappointed with it's performance, especially as the roads were fantastic, windy, mountainous, smooth and empty. So when I was asked to install a performance camshaft and new valves to a himalayan back in the UK I jumped at the chance. I tested the doner bike (the white one)before getting down to it, it's performance was slightly better than the hire bike I had but still disappointing. I fitted the cam and performance valves, the bike has a decent air filter and a decat pipe as well, and what a lovely improvement in performance. It's not a fire breathing all out moto x engine but a really usable pleasant power curve. Top end is supposed to be a lot better and usable,I haven't tried that end of the power yet ,it'll need some more running in. But the low to mid is really usable.
If you have a himalayan and want a bit more from it ,I highly recommend this upgrade. And if you're not confident about doing it yourself get in touch and I'll be happy to help.

I've had this lovely looking thunderbird tr65 in and I thought I would do a short journal on its progress to show you lovely people what you should be aware of when buying a "nice condition 2 owner bike" also to show you whats involved and where your money goes on a engine rebuild. Piston pics,showing piston slap marks and burnt oil stains. Oil filter blocked with sludge and metal bits, the oil did not want to drain! Sludge trap blocked solid and b**g had to be drilled to be removed. New big end shells fitted on standard size good condition journals, new main bearings fitted all bearings are original triumph stock. I will keep y'all updated on the progress as it happens. I hope you find this helpful, be mindful when buying a nice looking classic, they seem to spend the money on aesthetics rather than mechanics. Until the next update stay shiny side up.

Kawasaki klx 650r, a ground up restoration, this bike when I took it on had been left outside uncovered for 10 yrs or so,the wheels actually collapsed when pushed into the workshop, the rest of the bike wasn't much better.
