The billet front control arms we designed and the fabricated front crossmember we made a few weeks ago are coming together.

Fixtured in space on one of our chassis jig tables, the axle lines, chassis dimensions and ride height have been finalised.

The fabricated front crossmember got set up in a new set of profile designed chassis rails. We designed and fabricated some upper control arm mounts to finish the upper crossmember area. Upper arms and the CNC machined pedestals key these into place…

To work in conjunction with the Wilwood Engineering front uprights and unit bearing assemblies, we designed some stainless taper adaptor inserts and misalignment spacers to run the uniballs in the upper and lower arms over conventional OE style ball joints too…

Another amazing event all done and dusted at the National 4x4 Outdoors Show in Melbourne this past weekend. Was a great time catching up with new and existing friends in the industry, seeing and hearing all the positive feedback regarding the PRF-1 and basking in the atmosphere around a prospering community.

Thanks go out to the National 4x4 Outdoors Show crew that put on a buzzing event every year, to STEDI LED Driving Lights for having us in their booth this year and Central Accident Repairs & Restorations for getting the PRF-1 cleaned and detailed and helping with setting up for the show.

Special thanks also go out to the thousands of people that understood the purpose of the perimeter barrier around our vehicle and could resist the urge to touch, tap, open doors, smack their bags and lean against the car itself to get a better view of it…😅

As the build on the PRF-1 comes to an end. The next Prerunner type build is underway. It’ll be dubbed the PRN-2 and will be a completely different build to its predecessor. Both the chassis platform, drivetrain configuration, style and vehicle model are a completely new concept.

The donor vehicle (to be revealed later but can disclose its from the GM family) was been sourced from the US about 12 months ago, it’s been completely stripped down to a bare shell and retains only the parts/pieces we need for the new build.

Over the past few months I’ve been designing the new front suspension assembly and front bare bulkhead. Suspension components have been starting to get put through FEA and fatigue analysis testing and we’ve gotten started on fabricating the basic front bulkhead structure.

All 4130 plate and tube, double pass tig welded and built around a Spidertrax Off-Road IFS diff housing. Still more gussets and plate work to add as things progress, but it’s a starting point and the build is underway!

In this weeks after hours, there’s been some reassembly and an initial clean up before it goes off to Central Accident Repairs & Restorations next week for final detail, polish and last custom touches.

All in readiness for the National 4x4 Outdoors Show to follow next weekend in Melbourne!!!
