RaiderMoto.com Welcome to RaiderMoto.com, your portal to the world of rare, collectible, unique, custom and vintage

RaiderMoto, aka Raider Motorsport, is a name etched in motor racing history, both two & four wheels. In 2003 we moved from Sydney to the tranquil sea-side resort city of Coffs Harbour, half way between Brisbane and Sydney. Shortly after we established a small workshop to restore our own cache of bikes and projects that had sat ignored for many many years. Despite a desire to remain anonymous our workshop began to attract interest and before long we received requests for restoration work. Around the same time we started to receive regular inquiry to build small bore custom bikes, like those sold by Deus Ex Machina. At the time we hardly knew how to pronounce Deus, let alone know what it referred to, but eventually we accepted the challenge and designed our first custom bike, the Varkain, which still today remains the most popular small bore build we’ve done, and continue to build. The success and international exposure received from the first Varkain set us on a new path, and before we knew it we’d become a bespoke motorcycle builder, racking up 4 to 5 customs builds per year and gaining an international following with our bikes appearing regularly in foreign magazines and blogs. In 07/08 we commenced an importing division which lead to the establishment of offices and agent partnerships in the UK, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Japan and the USA. Today we import rare and collectible bikes from all over the globe, and have trade agreements with dealers worldwide who assist us in procuring bikes for stock and for specific customers. As a result of our importing, in 2012 we commenced offering ADR compliance for specific models, and have become the Australian Importer of Vyrus Motorcycles. RaiderMoto.com has gained a reputation for doing the impossible, having achieved road-legal use of some of the most challenging bespoke bike creations such as the Walz Hardore, Confederate Wraith, Vyrus and Traverston T-Rex.

Ducati's S2 900 was meant to be the evolution of the SS, a model that had remained pretty-much unchanged since it's inception in 1974. The model ran for only 2 years with a total production of 1,236 bikes, making them one of the factories smallest production runs. This example is spectacularly restored and one of only 75 to have been delivered new in Australia.

Regarded as the "World's sexist motorcycle", the first few hundred Ducati 916 Varese built bikes are the most sought after of all. Known as 'First Batch", they are easily identifiable by the lack of tradition bodywork screws, the factory choosing instead to save weight by using solid aluminum rivets & spring clips.

Quality Wins in Today’s Rare & Collectible market.

The collectible motorcycle market sits in a prolonged sideways phase, shaped by broader economic & structural influences. Rising interest rates & tighter liquidity reduces discretionary spending, making buyers more cautious & selective. This follows a surge during 20–22, when low rates & excess savings pushed values up. Today’s environment reflects normalization rather than decline, with prices stabilizing closer to long-term fundamentals.

A defining feature of current market is growing importance of quality. Only top-tier motorcycles i.e., highly original or correctly restored, well-documented, rare, & from desirable marques, are consistently retaining value. Meanwhile, average or poorly restored bikes face softer demand & downward pressure; widening the gap between premium & mid-tier examples is typical in slower markets.
Liquidity has also weakened. Sellers often hesitate to accept prices below earlier peaks, while buyers expect discounts, resulting in fewer sales & subdued turnover. Compounding this are higher global logistics costs, that are increasingly influencing the market. Every aspect of shipping has increased, as has Australian arrival, compliance, & delivery charges. Many investors & owners still fail to fully account for these cumulative costs when assessing purchases or returns, which can materially erode realised value.

At the same time, these elevated import costs are likely to have a supportive effect on our domestic market, as they raise the replacement cost of bringing comparable motorcycles into Australia. In turn, this should underpin values for high-quality machines already located within the country.

Demographics are another influence. While younger investors currently favour more modern classics, tastes tend to evolve, with many gravitating toward earlier machines as they themselves age and recognise their importance within the broader history of motorcycling.

Overall, this is a quality-driven market rather than a declining one, rewarding the best examples while testing the rest.
