The underside of the bonnet is now completed and the flag blue paint is being applied tomorrow.

Today I fitted the door seals to the car and rehung both doors, leaving the front and back body panels to go once they’ve been painted!

Had a productive weekend with the car’s continuing fit out, hopefully the bonnet will be painted by the end of this week and another piece of the puzzle can be fitted!

100 Litre Tank is now fitted, now to fit the door rubbers and hang the doors!

The Fuel tank is now painted and will be installed back into the car in the next few days.

Progress!

After smoothing the welds, I’ve sealed the aluminium and sprayed a coat of hi build primer over the affected areas.
When dry I’ll rub it back and finish it off with a coat of satin black.

Spent last weekend fitting the now painted top back to the car for the last time!
From here on the car will start to take shape pretty quickly!

Yesterday I collected the right hand sill after repainting , then refitted the rivets.
Today it will be returned to the car permanently.
from that point I’ll be on the home stretch!

While I was waiting on the paint work to be done, I finessed the fuel tank welds smooth.
If time permits and the weather conditions allow I’ll repaint the tank and then it can go back.
The tank was removed from the car so I could access the rear (top) pop rivet holes in top of the body clip.

Today I completed the top of the car with the screen and rear view mirror now reinstalled making it ready to be fitted back to the car.
Unfortunately had a small setback with the RHS sill which required it to be repainted.
Discovered that the rivet heads that (I had painted some years back) had little paint to no adhesion and the paint was easily chipped off!Unfortunately in the action of removing these rivets I did some minor damage to the surrounding surface (around the edge of the holes)
Luckily I discovered the problem before I installed any more of these to any of the other painted pieces!
So as soon as the sill is painted I’ll refit the “now” properly painted rivets and then re fit back to the car.
Once this is done I can then fit the top to the car and then the doors!
Leaving the bonnet and rear clip left to do, today I called on the painter who just finished all the prep work for the bonnet.
Paying particular attention to the louvers and headlight apertures, ensuring they’re all perfect.
The bonnet also had a final application of undercoat in certain areas and once the fully cured (couple of weeks) will finally be painted in colour!
