Skimming (resurfacing) can extend a rotor’s life — but it’s not always the safe move.

Every rotor has a minimum thickness limit set by the manufacturer. Skim past that, and you’re left with a disc that overheats faster, warps easier, and can crack under hard braking. Once you’re near the limit, skimming isn’t saving you money — it’s setting you up for a replacement anyway, with less margin for error.

Before your next skim job, get your rotors checked. Sometimes replacement is the safer — and smarter — call.
